Ours are built for exactly that — a filling that holds together, pastry that doesn’t collapse the moment it’s cut, and the kind of steady, familiar flavour that keeps someone coming back for the same one next week. Handheld, hearty, and built to travel well — from a packed lunch to a busy lunchtime queue. Pasties and rolls do a lot of jobs at once: quick to serve, easy to eat on the move, and satisfying enough that one is rarely the last word on the matter.

The category that does the most work on a counter — smaller, spiced, built for grabbing rather than sitting down to. Good savouries are judged in seconds, on smell and first bite, which is exactly the standard we hold them to.
