The Jasats journey

From a Home Kitchen to a Family Bakery.

A family story built one pie, one customer and one honest recommendation at a time.

  1. Jasats halal pies arranged around a cut open pie

    1995

    Where It Began

It began in a Victorian terraced house, not a factory. Mum made pies at home, mainly for the family evening meal and for whoever happened to be around the table that night. At a time when pies were generally known for being stodgy and dry, hers were different: lighter, fresher and properly made.

Guests noticed immediately. Word travelled along the street before it ever reached a shop. Neighbours would knock simply to ask whether she had made any that week. What began as polite compliments became genuine requests for more, so Mum kept baking.

  2. A Jasats pie served with chips and mushy peas

    1997

    Our First Customer

By then, the pies were good enough for Dad, who was working full time as a mechanic, to take a chance on them. He asked a local chip shop whether they would be interested. They said yes.

Dad found himself doing both jobs at once, working with spanners by day, then finding new customers and delivering pies whenever he had time. One customer became ten through word of mouth alone. They were traditional pies, made halal for people from all walks of life.

  3. A selection of Jasats pies and pasties

    2003

    Making It Official

Jasats became a registered business and moved into its first proper premises, leaving the house for good. Moving out of Mum's kitchen was bittersweet. It had been the birthplace of the business, but there was only so much a domestic oven could do.

With more space came greater capacity, and pasties joined the pie range for the first time. Dad continued driving across the North West, building the customer base one shop at a time.

  4. A Jasats team member beside a delivery vehicle

    2008

    Beyond the North West

The North West was proudly ours to serve, but we did not stop there. With our own vehicles on the road, Jasats began supplying customers nationwide.

What had started with one man and one car became a proper fleet, covering the ground Dad once drove alone. The range grew with the miles, adding a broader selection of frozen and chilled products alongside the originals.

  5. Jasats savoury products prepared in the family bakery

    2019

    Passing the Torch

Mum and Dad had earned the right to slow down, and they passed the business to one of their daughters and their son as the digital age gathered pace.

The recipes did not change. Only the distance they could travel and the number of people who could enjoy them changed. The new generation took the business further with greater efficiency, faster growth and a strong online presence.

  6. The Jasats family range today

    Today

    The Same Family Standard

Jasats is still family run, still based in Blackburn and still guided by the same standard Mum set in that kitchen.

The founders

Built by Two People Who Cared About Getting It Right.

The recipes and relationships came first. Growth followed because the family refused to compromise on what left the kitchen.
